888.com the online casinos operator has decided to tighten its security, adding more procedures to it’s sign up process in an effort to prevent problems like, underage participation and problem gambling.
888.com have reportedly enlisted the help of British online security company 192Business, who will help with identification verifications, and safety protocols.
It has also been suggested by some industry insiders that 888.com’s decision to make the sites accessibility more restricted, was in order to help a potential move into the US market, should the laws change.
When questioned on this matter Eran Gonen, the vice-president of 888.com, said “The verification process was an important step for the company’s expansion into new markets.”
192Business will be used at the sign up stage when new accounts are created denying access, to those it deems to be a threat or inappropriate users of the site.
PartyGaming and PKR.com are among other European online gambling operators that already use the service provided by 192Business.
Ruth Tanami, 888 casino’s Director of Responsible Gambling, said, ““Player verification enables us to go into new markets safely and responsibly. It… maintains our commitment to being a socially responsible operator by preventing underage players accessing our gaming sites.”
