Anti online gambling lobbyists have hit a major blow after the announcement of internetsafety.com’s ‘BetStopper’ software.
The idea behind the software is to protect children from gambling using their parent’s accounts online. The free software combats this by using a web filter to completely block online gambling and enables adults to regulate the specific days and times their children can access the web.
Currently, BetStopper is only available in a town in Canada. It is being trialed there due to their child online gambling problems, it has been reported that rates for children gambling online are actually higher than adults. If the trial in Nova Scotia proves to be a success, the UK could adopt the software.
CEO of internetsaftey.com, Forrest Collier commented, “In ten years of specializing in helping parents shield their children from the unsavory side of the Internet, this is the first time we have been asked to create a project specifically to address underage gambling”.
The launch of this software means that a major debating issue about child safety has ended. This gives pro online gaming lobbyists the opportunity to follow through on plans to help change the law in multiple countries, including the USA.
